Ani-Gamers may be a blog, but that does not mean that we do not operate with the professionalism and legality of a traditional news outlet. As such, this page contains our policies and disclaimers regarding our writers' and podcasters' coverage of anime, manga, video games, and other products and services on this site.
Fansub/Scanlation Policy
We understand the ubiquity of pirated anime and manga on the Internet, but we also recognize that these unauthorized versions of material are widely considered to be detrimental to the welfare of the anime and manga industries in both America and Japan. As such, as of October 17, 2009, our writers are not allowed to write in-depth coverage (i.e. a partial or complete review) of the following content:
- Fansubs or scanlations of content licensed for DVD, retail manga, online, or other distribution in North America (NO coverage whatsoever allowed!)
- Fansubs or scanlations of unlicensed content released in Japan within five years of the review's publication
Review Disclaimers
In order to make our reviewing process more transparent to our readers, our reviewers will include a field in the header of their review stating the version of the title that was reviewed. This allows our readers to see whether the reviewer watched a fansub/scanlation, bought the DVD, manga or game, or received a review copy from a local distributor. If a company refuses to allow us to include the disclaimer for some reason, we will negotiate with them to reach a conclusion that allows the maximum amount of transparency for our readers.
