This week Mega64 released their latest video for an undisclosed DS guitar title (see if you can guess which one) which got rejected by the ratings board for having "unsavory content." Most artists would be pretty put down at having their work flat out rejected, but Mega64 persevered and re-cut the video to make it more..."savory."
Also, I keep thinking that the song they're playing is going to turn into this song, but it never does.

I think it's safe to assume that most of you have already found some sort of April Fool's joke today/yesterday, whether you simply chuckled or were totally fooled. Either way, I've compiled a brief list of my favorite April Fool's jokes of 2008.
First up is ThinkGeek's amazing suite of jokes. From Wii Sports on the iPhone to the new Wii game Super Pii Pii Brothers to the Betamax-HDDVD converter to the SnuzNLuz alarm clock (pays your money to something you hate when you hit snooze), ThinkGeek had me laughing all day long. Make sure to check both their front page and their sidebar, which contains dozens of April Fool's products.
IGN joined in the fun with their (surprisingly high-quality) trailer for the Legend of Zelda movie. Before anybody sends me a news tip reminding me of the obvious validity of this video, please note that even in the credits it says that the entire thing was produced for and by IGN. Regardless, this video did remind me of how awesome a Zelda movie would be, if done right (see "not by Uwe Boll").
Turbine Software is releasing a special content update in their Lord of the Rings Online MMO. Titled "The Battle of Amon Hen," it recreates the epic Lord of the Rings battle with--you guessed it--hens.
Three webcomics decided to redirect each other's sites in an endless triangular cycle OF PAIN. XKCD redirects to Questionable Content. Questionable Content redirects to Dinosaur Comics. Dinosaur Comics redirects back to XKCD. Confused yet?
GayGamer also made their own not-so-subtle change, turning their entire site into "StraightGamer," a website "for dudes who like chicks who have boobs...and chicks who like dudes who like beer." Brilliant!
Ubisoft and Konami worked together to merge Altair (of Assassin's Creed) and Solid Snake (of Metal Gear Solid) into the SAME PERSON, then make an awesome video out of it.
GAME announced their Double Bass controller for Guitar Hero, to serve all your classical rhythm-gaming needs.
Finally, Google and Virgin have teamed up to create "Virgle," the company that's gonna send you to a Mars colony! Its too much to describe here, so just check it out yourself.

Nintendo is once again coming under attack by the Internet community, though this time not for duct-tape related reasons. Satirical news source The Onion reported today that the Wii has faced major criticisms from PAW (Parents Against Wii), who have claimed that the console has caused an increase in "effeminate violence" in their children.
Some gems from the article include...
"The Nintendo company is knowingly exposing our children to disturbing acts of foppishness right in our living rooms," said Roberts of PAW. "Even more frightening, the motion-sensing technology teaches them that the only way to resolve conflicts is to flail their arms in acts of fruity aggression."
and...
"The Wii's fluffy flowers and bright peach-colored sunlight glorify chasing precious talking rabbits with plungers," Greer said. "What kind of message is that sending to our children? That it's 'cool' to act like some kind of electrical elf or banana fairy?"

Today's episode of the Joystiq Podcast featured the Photoshopping work of a very lucky anime and gaming writer who just might be named Evan "Vampt Vo" Minto. Joystiq's Chris Grant, Ludwig Kietzmann, and Justin McElroy were nice enough to include my image (pictured on the left) of the three of them in their roles from Game of the Year 2008 Super Joystiq Podcast Brawl. Thanks to Chris, Ludwig, and Justin (okay, Griffin too) for posting the picture and shamelessly plugging Ani-Gamers.
The podcast is undoubtedly my favorite--and possibly the best--gaming podcast out there. Feel free to check out this week's episode, Over the Hill Edition.

The ever-vigilant posters over at NeoGAF found this humorous easter egg/scary coincidence in the Super Mario Galaxy boxart. The little sparkles in front of the title clearly point out a set of letters, which when placed in order, spell--you guessed it--"U R MR GAY."
Have fun with this one, anti-Nintendo fanboys, since right here we have irrevocable proof directly from Nintendo that Wii is FTG (for teh gay). At this very moment, AniGamers is receiving word that Nintendo PR people are organizing a redesign in which the sparkles will spell an anagram of "UM SORRY."
